Before Enzo Maresca’s appointment as Chelsea manager, a four-person shortlist included Kieran McKenna, Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Frank, and Maresca. Frank, despite his impressive record at Brentford, was considered less glamorous than the others.

McKenna and De Zerbi were ruled out, leaving Frank and Maresca as the final candidates. Chelsea opted for Maresca, who has since proven his worth.

Frank remains in the running for various managerial positions, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham. He has expressed his happiness at Brentford but acknowledges that he may consider a move to a bigger club in the future.

Despite their contrasting styles, Frank and Maresca have both achieved success in their respective roles. Frank’s Brentford team has scored more goals than all but Chelsea and Liverpool this season, while conceding fewer than Ipswich and Crystal Palace.

Frank expects a tough match against Chelsea, but believes his team can compete. He is eager to prove his worth to the Blues, having won on each of his previous three visits to Stamford Bridge.
