Manuel Prast and the only time Real Madrid dominated the Copa del Rey

Real Madrid, despite their dominance in European and Spanish football, have a complex relationship with the Copa del Rey. Their only period of dominance in the competition came between 1905 and 1908, when they won four consecutive titles. Since then, they have only defended their title twice. Despite occasional successes, these have been isolated achievements rather than the start of a new era of cup dominance.
