Katie Startup plays blind football to help mark World Braille Day
Manchester City’s charity, City in the Community, celebrated World Braille Day by introducing City star Katie Startup to blind football at a One City Disability session. Melland SEN High School students learned about the sport and how visual impairments are overcome through enhanced senses. Startup experienced blindfolded play, highlighting the importance of inclusivity in sports. Blind football features blindfolded players, a noise-emitting ball, and silent spectators to enhance hearing. Nissan, CITC’s partner, supports the One City Disability program, including Powerchair Football sessions.
